Showcase Events & Opportunities

A big part of what we do with our Net Zero Accelerator (NZA) cohort members is help them engage with our community of thought leaders, many of whom are influencers, connectors, and prospective pilot partners. That’s the main reason we host and co-host NZA showcases with select community partners. These feature fast pitches (typically three to five minutes) along with facilitated dialogue, audience Q’s and A’s, and often virtual breakout sessions for 1-to-1’s with founders and co-founders.

  • Showcases typically run 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the audience, goals, and time of day.

  • They can be customized to our partner’s industry and areas of focus. And even be in a shark tank styled format—that’s more of a dolphin tank, really—with representatives of your company and/or our shared community interacting with the companies to “vote” with one of our three C’s: Commit to exploring a pilot project together; Connect them with a valuable contact; or simply Commend them on their progress.

  • Showcases are co-hosted by Ben Stapleton, Executive Director, USGBC-LA, and Colin Mangham, Director of the Net Zero Accelerator. Both are professional keynote speakers and workshop facilitators.

By way of example, we recently ran a showcase with College of the Canyons and their Innovation Showcase Series. In this case we focused the event on Energy Resources & Efficiency, featuring five of our 2022 cohort companies.

A couple of weeks later we hosted a showcase with our partners at Fairstead, with whom we’re very much aligned on the mission to truly and quickly realize green affordable housing.

Here's a sample of an overview paragraph for a showcase we co-hosted with the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA):

High stakes! Ticking clock! Pitch perfect? Check out the U.S. Green Building Council Los Angeles chapter’s Net Zero Accelerator alumni and partners as they showcase their innovations. Tune in for this Shark Tank-style competition where founders fastpitch IFMA’s industry experts holding the keys to real world pilot opportunities.

We can of course be flexible on days and times, but in keeping pace with the 2022 program we’re now locking in new dates for late October, and through to March 2023.

Please contact Ben@USGBC-LA.org and Colin@USGBC-LA.org with any q’s or to begin planning your showcase.
